DEXTERITY

I had Artistic Tile's Satchmo Sticks in Coltrane Cream added to my client's backsplash.

I decided to head on over and check on the progress.

Mark, my tile installer, told me that the tile was gorgeous but it was a real killer. Teeny tiles. Pretty tedious stuff...requiring incredible dexterity.

It was worth it, though. Drop. Dead. Gorgeous.

Get Your Rocks Off

I see a lot but am tempted by little...but, you, I want.

Yes, you will be mine...because you excite me.

Salty Pete

Last year I donated this gorgeous vintage Italian bench to an auction benifitting Volunteers in Medicine. It sold before the auction even started. Go figure...they came calling again.

So I cruised down to my storage unit...and shopped.

I pulled out this pair of ugly ducklings. Vintage Century bergeres.

They really just need some new down cushions.

...a good dye job (Benjamin Moore's White Dove) and some new clothes. Well, hello, Kinomi by Peter Fasano.

Once again, Pete, you make my knees weak.
Pass the smelling salts, please.

1STDIBS...I THINK I LOVE YOU

I had these vintage Widdicomb chairs from 1stdibs dressed up in Peter Fasano's Jaipur. God, how I love 1stdibs and gorgeous fabrics and all the joy via financial drain that it brings my clients and I...

Joke. Ish.

Typical Day

First things first...this morning I totally outdid myself with this plan for the den in the Dallas townhouse. Walls in American Clay's Snow Canyon. Tibetan wool and silk rug by Neisha Crosland from The Rug Company. Killer Prussian blue mohair from Great Plains for the Kravet sleeper sofa. Hartmann & Forbes KottaWeave shade...

...then I supervised the removal of a Zhu-zhu pet from M's hair...

...and then I pottytrained... Jen style.

Typical. Day.

Dallas

So sorry that I have been absent but I have been busy working on this. As you can see...it needs some, uh...working on...

VEGAS

I ran the 1/2 marathon in Vegas. It was freezing. 28 degrees when we started...

...and I met Shirley from Turkey in the bathroom and couldn't help, but, well...you know. Blog about her.

Everything else? Stays in Vegas.

Moonlighting

So...initially my client and I were going to do this Tai Ping wool and silk rug in her entryway. Custom sample was ordered. It seemed like a great idea.

We threw it out in the entryway. Bravo! We'll take it!

Just then her Russian housekeeper Luba whispered..."I sink it vood be better reverse. More brown. Less white. Easier to clean. That's just vhat I sink." Sweep, sweep.

No shit, Luba. You might want to add designer to your resume.

...and I call MYSELF a designer. I sink I am. I sought I was.

Vegas

I am flying to Vegas in two days to run a half marathon and I am so sick. Would it be weird if I wore this?

Maybe I'll skip the race and shop. Any suggestions?

LOVE HATE

In this profession my client's have a love/hate relationship with me... My clients love me...my clients' husbands...well...love to hate me. Hate my bills, that is. I say...no pain, no gain, right?

So...I saw this Chinese apothecary chest downtown. I bought it and had it delivered to my client.

Okay...I don't know what the hell they will put in it...maybe it is a really expensive pill organizer for when they get forgetful? Regardless, it is truly perfect right where it is. Anyway...a few hours after it was delivered I received this text from my client's husband...

Client's Husband: (Picture of chest in his entry included in text) What is this?

Jen West Design: I have no idea. I have never seen that in my entire life.

Client's Husband: You lie!

Jen West Design: Very well.

Client's Husband: :-)

Hahahahahahahaha! Isn't that hilarious? I love my job.
